GausevaSangha—the name itself speaks that we are a group of individuals united by the cause of serving cows.
Gauseva, is deeply rooted in our traditional values. In ancient customs, before taking any meal, a portion was first offered to the cow, and then we eat. Recognizing its significance 4 individual initially introduced a gaushala box in their home where each member of family contribute any small amount before taking meal, because in modern city life, visiting a gaushala before each meal is not always feasible. The money collected throughout the week and then used every Sunday to buy food for cows by them jointly.
Yes, GausevaSangha is a fully registered organization, just like any other NGO. Our registration number is [....], and we are also equipped with a PAN card no. is AAETG8143J.
Collecting amount each week from individual and jointly purchasing food for cow became difficult. Over time, the movement grew, with many more people—especially from West Bengal—joining hands in this noble cause. As participation increased, managing the weekly contributions became challenging, especially with larger amounts of money being collected.
Furthermore, purchasing food in excess of ₹2000 in cash from the gaushala posed difficulties due to income tax regulations, which limit such transactions for unregistered entities. To overcome these challenges and ensure smooth management of the funds and contributions, we decided to officially register Gauseva Sangha. This step helped streamline the process, allowing for greater transparency, easier management of resources, and the ability to make larger purchases in accordance with legal guidelines.
In today’s world, most individuals are driven by personal gain, lost the sense of emotional bond with cows. Our mission is to revive that lost connection and rekindle the sense of compassion and responsibility toward these gentle beings.
We inspire people to see gaushalas as places of worship and encourage weekly visits, no matter which states they live in, to serve and protect cows .
We encourage every individual to make a Gauseva Sangha in their own state, city, or village and join hands with us.
When we started GausevaSangha on 20th January 2020, there were just 4 dedicated members. Over the years, our mission has resonated with many, and by 2024, our membership has grown to 195 individuals. This growing community reflects the impact of our cause and the shared dedication to bringing about positive change.
Currently, our members meet every Sunday and on Amavasya at the Liluah Gaushala (Calcutta Pinjapole Society). These meetings occur in the morning, between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM, where members come together to serve around 1,500 cows. From the beginning in 2020 until now in 2024, there has never been a missed meeting. With such a large and committed group, someone is always present to ensure the service continues uninterrupted.
Additionally, meetings are held at other locations too as needed, based on the requirements.
We buy food for cows every Sunday and Amavasya, offering it to the cows with our own hands.
Excess funds are used to purchase large quantities of food like chara, corn plants, bhusi, dalia, etc., which are donated truck-wise to gaushalas in need.
We also use excess funds to build complete sheds for cows in gaushalas where needed to provide them with proper shelter.
We sometimes rescue cows from being slaughtered.
We do not give money to any gaushala; instead, we directly purchase food and donate it.
We buy small essential items like turmeric (haldi), salt (namak), etc., needed to prepare dalia for sick cows.
We ensure that baby cows, pregnant cows, and sick cows receive proper care and treatment, regularly checking that their living conditions are comfortable.
We purchase and deliver medicines prescribed by veterinarians for cows, offering them for free.
For donors who wish to buy food but cannot visit the gaushala, we take the food on their behalf, offer it to the cows, and make a video to send to the donor, helping them stay connected with the gaushala.
During our Sunday meetups, we help clean the gaushala or coordinate with authorities to maintain cleanliness, treating the gaushala like a home that must be kept in good condition.
The entire process, including the quantities offered, is recorded in video form for transparency and shared with members in our WhatsApp group. For further accountability, all contributions and expenses are meticulously recorded in our books to ensure proper tracking of funds and resources used for cow care.
With a large number of members from different working fields in our group, each person is divided into seven categories based on their expertise. These groups collectively decide which gaushala needs our contributed funds, ensuring that resources are directed where they are most needed. Once decisions are made, they are promptly communicated to all members through digital means for transparency and coordination.
There is no question of taking a salary because our purpose is to come together and provide selfless service to the cows.
